I've tried to get the official app and official command-line interface working on both 32-bit and 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS (based on Debian Bullseye), and the symptom is the same each time: the login to ProtonVPN seems to work, then connection is attempted but never completes. It would also be useful to hear from those who haven't been able to make it work, as large numbers of these would suggest that there's something in Raspberry Pi OS that needs tweaking, given that the official app is presumably working on Debian in general, ProtonVPN having been promoting it as such for around a year(?) now. It's good to hear from craigevil that even he's not managed to get the ProtonVPN official app to work it would be most useful to everyone who wants to use ProtonVPN on a Raspberry Pi to hear from anyone who has been able to make the official app or command-line interface work. (If all else fails, where can I now get the "community CLI client" if that's what was working before?) Please, what should I next try to get a connection with my Pi? login appears to work, but connection doesn't.

I also tried with the latest version of the graphical ProtonVPN client on Raspberry Pi OS, but that doesn't connect to the ProtonVPN network, either the symptom is very similar i.e. Without protonvpn-cli running, the Pi reliably connects to the Internet, too.Ī previous installation of protonvpn (is that the "community CLI client"?) on a previous installation of Raspbian made a year or so ago did work reliably, except that it would drop the connection after a while not in use and require reconnection. ProtonVPN running on my Windows machine connected to the same router reliably connects to ProtonVPN's network using the same credentials as I use to log in with the Raspberry Pi and protonvpn-cli (I have a paid ProtonVPN Plus account).

I have tried complete reinstallation of the OS and of protonvpn-cli, but get the same symptom every time. (Of course, sometimes it picks a different server than UK#73, as the -f flag asks for the fastest one, which varies.) Then, nothing happens for many minutes I never get a connection. However, when I use the command "protonvpn-cli connect -f", I receive the output:Ĭonnecting to ProtonVPN on UK#73 with UDP."

I was able to log in successfully using the command "protonvpn-cli login". I then installed ProtonVPN's official Linux command-line client protonvpn-cli (the latest version, 3.11.0), using apt-get as instructed on ProtonVPN's page. I made a completely clean install of the latest version of Raspberry Pi OS (released: ) on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, using the latest version of Raspberry Pi Imager (v1.7.1). I cannot connect to the ProtonVPN network on the Raspberry Pi OS.
